James is a senior partner at Prowse Chowne LLP, focusing on helping individual, family and business clients navigate legal strategies as experienced and empathetic counsel. For more than 30 years, James has been a valuable resource for clients when it matters. His practice includes expertise in business and corporate law, commercial/residential/industrial real estate, and estate planning and probate law. From large corporations to family businesses, to individuals challenged by difficult legal circumstances, he has been both support and counsel that clients can count on.
His community work includes board member and legal counsel for the Edmonton Fringe Festival, the Edmonton Korean Canadian Scholarship Foundation, the Canadian Leukemia Research Fund and the Varscona Theatre Society. James enjoys mentorship and has volunteered with the faculty of law and Venture Mentoring Services at the University of Alberta, as a sessional lecturer at Grant MacEwan University, and at NAIT and Peter Lougheed College, among others. He has a strong commitment to young lawyers and law students, and as a first-generation lawyer he understands the intrinsic value of mentorship resources and long-term relationships in the profession.
James is a member of Alberta’s thriving Korean community, as well as a supporter of local arts and culture, favourite haunts including the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Varscona Theatre. James is proud of Edmonton’s growth and progressive drive to be a world-class city in every way.
